Offshore staff
ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland -- The Kiewit-Aker Contractors joint venture is to perform Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) for ExxonMobil Canada Properties (EMCP) for the Hebron platform gravity-based structure (GBS).
The contract could be extended to later provide detailed engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. Aker Solutions says its share of the FEED is valued at $70 million.
Hebron is an oil and gas development, 350 km (217 mi) offshore St. John's, in the Atlantic Ocean.
FEED work starts immediately, with site preparation at the Bull Arm fabrication yard, Newfoundland and Labrador, to be conducted once permits have been received. Aker Solutions' project management will be based in St. John's.
Aker Solutions built and installed 15 concrete structures, fixed and floating, for Norwegian fields during 1971-1993. More recently it supplied substructures to two platforms, installed in 2005 east of Sakhalin Island for Sakhalin Energy; the Adriatic LNG terminal, installed in 2008 offshore Venice; and the Arkutun-Dagi GBS for the Exxon Neftegas’ Sakhalin-1 project, which is currently under construction in Nakhodka, Russia.
The company has worked with Peter Kiewit Infrastructure on the Hibernia GBS offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada for Hibernia Management and Development Co. (HMDC), and the White Rose FPSO project for Husky Energy. The Kiewit-Aker Contractors venture was formed this year with a 50/50 percent ownership.
