Centrica ramping up southern North Sea gas production

Centrica expects to deliver first gas before mid-year from its Ensign project in the UK southern North Sea.

WINDSOR, UK – Centrica expects to deliver first gas before mid-year from its Ensign project in the UK southern North Sea.

However, one of the wells already drilled has failed, and will have to be re-drilled following completion of other planned development wells on the field.

Later this year, Centrica aims to start up the Seven Seas field in the same region, followed by first gas from theYork field in early 2013.

The company is progressing development of theKew gas field and expects to take final investment final investment decisions (FIDs) later this year on the Annabel East and Olympus developments.

As a partner, Centrica is working with operator GDF Suez to optimize the development plan forCygnus, one of the largest undeveloped gas discoveries in the UK North Sea. Subject to acceptable returns, they expect to make an FID around mid-2012.
