D3 partners plan further wells offshore eastern India

LONDON – Hardy Oil & Gas has provided an update on its various E&P programs offshore India.

In block KG-DWN-2003/1 (D3) off eastern India, the company has a 10% interest. Earlier this year the D3 joint venture operating committee, led by Reliance, recommended a commerciality report for the Dhirubhai 39, 41, and 52 gas discoveries, subject to a review by India’s government. They propose adry gas subsea cluster development with flexibility to tie in additional discoveries. A decision is expected by year-end.

Hardy says it is pleased by new partner BP’s contribution to the prospect generation and evaluation process. Ongoing geotechnical evaluation of the block integrated with new regional data has identified numerous additional prospects and leads.

The new prospectivity is primarily in thermogenic sourced plays.Interpretation continues of deeper play types in the block’s central area, with pre-stack depth migration seismic processing on the eastern portion.

A fifth exploration well will likely start drilling early next year, followed probably by the sixth and final commitment well in 2Q 2013 prior to the expiry of the license’s first phase. Prospects in the eastern area and Phase I areas will be evaluated after the PSDM processing to prioritize and plan the future drilling program.

The D3 exploration licence covers 3,288 sq km (1,269 sq mi), in water depths of 400-2,200 m (1,312-7,218 ft), around 45 km (28 mi) offshore. To date, there have been four consecutive gas discoveries via the KGV-D3-A1, B1, R1, and W1 exploration wells.

Hardy is also a partner in the GS-01 license in the Gujarat-Saurashtra offshore basin off India’s west coast, northwest of the Bombay High oil field.

The government has approved a declaration of commerciality proposal for the Dhirubhai 33 discovery (GS01-B1) drilled in 2007, which flow-tested 18.6 MMcf/d of gas and 415 b/d of condensate through a 56/64-in. choke at flowing tubing head pressure of 1,346 psi.

The GS-01 partners plan to submit a detailed field development plan for Dhirubhai 33 before the end of this year.
