Committee approves D-3 block budget

Andhra deepwater block KG-DWN-2003/1, or the D-3 block, management committee has approved a $40 million budget for simultaneous processing and interpretation of 210 sq km (81 sq mi) of previously shot 3D seismic data.

MUMBAI, India -- Andhra deepwater block KG-DWN-2003/1, or the D-3 block, management committee has approved a $40 million budget for simultaneous processing and interpretation of 210 sq km (81 sq mi) of previously shot 3D seismic data.

The committee comprised of the petroleum ministry, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons and the participating companies, also approved shooting 1,000 line km (621 mi) of 2D seismic in the acreage.

The block’s operator, Reliance, plans to soon start development concept studies in D-3 after which the Dhirubhai 39, Dhirubhai 41, and Dhirubhai 44 gas discoveries in the block will be developed.

Reliance suspended all drilling work in the block after the Transocean rig Deepwater Expedition developed technical problems in its BOP. Reliance was drilling the KGV-D3-W1 well in the contract area since April 2010.
