WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- New Zealand Oil and Gas (NZOG) is finalizing arrangements for a new 2D seismic survey in the Gulf of Gabes offshore Tunisia.

The survey will be acquired over the 1,200-sq km (463-sq mi)Diodore block, which was awarded to the company last year, and which is surrounded by both discovered and producing oil and gas fields.

NZOG is also preparing to reprocess existing 3D seismic. The company has a two-year prospecting permit, extendable to a subsequent four-year exploration permit.

In December, NZOG also farmed into the offshore Cosmo concession, operated by Storm Ventures International. The acreage contains the Cosmo oil discovery and nearby prospects and leads that could be tied into a development, if proven to be commercial.
