MOSCOW – Eurasia Drilling Co. (EDC) has updated its drilling activities in the Caspian Sea.

In February 2011, the company acquired the jackup Trident 20 from Transocean. The rig is contracted to Petronas Carigali in the Turkmen sector. EDC expects to continue work under the existing contract while negotiating a new contract for 2013 and beyond.

The jackup ASTRA is committed to a full 12-month program this year in the Russian and Kazakh sectors.

EDC also will continue to provide services on the ice-resistant platform on Lukoil’s Yu. Korchagin field in the Russian sector throughout the year, including drilling more complex extended reach wells.

Construction of the company’s new Super 116E jackup drilling rig is proceeding as planned in the UAE. Final assembly and commissioning will take place in the Caspian Sea later in 2012, with the rig expected to begin operations in early 2013.
