Saipem wins charter extensions for three rigs

NDC has extended the charter of Saipem's jackup Perro Negro 2 by 12 months, starting from 2Q 2011.

SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – NDC has extended the charter of Saipem’s jackup Perro Negro 2 by 12 months, starting from 2Q 2011.

The rig is working offshore the United Arab Emirates.

Perro Negro 2 can operate in water depths up to 300 ft (91.4 m).

Eni has also extended its charter of theSaipem 10000 drillship by 24 months, starting August 2012. This rig can operate in water depths of up to 10,000 ft (3,048 m) in full dynamic positioning mode.

Offshore Nigeria, Addax has extended its charter of Saipem’sScarabeo 3 by six months, starting in November.This is a second generation semisubmersible, operable in waters up to 1,200 ft (366 m) deep.

In a separate development, Saipem’s board has approved the incorporation of Saipem Energy Services into Saipem.

Saipem Energy Services offers engineering and project management services and FPSO business management.

The purpose of the merger is to rationalize the holding structure of Saipem’s Italian group companies, by integrating Saipem Energy Services’ offshore competencies into Saipem’s Engineering and Construction Business Unit.
