STAVANGER, Norway -- Statoil has issued a $772-million plan for development and operation for the Vigdis North-East development in the Norwegian North Sea. It is aiming to start production in December 2012.
Vigdis North-East will be produced through subsea facilities 1.6 km (0.99 mi) from the existing subsea installation on the Vigdis field.
The development will comprise a standard subsea template with three producer wells and one water injector. Produced oil and gas will be transported through a new pipeline to the Vigdis B template, then piped to the Snorre A platform, 7 km (4.35 mi) distant, for processing.
This is the second fasttrack development plan the company has submitted to the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy this year, after Visund South.
Statoil launched its fast track initiative last year, the aim being to make its smaller Norwegian finds profitable by halving the normal time from discovery to production through use of standard hardware solutions.
Most of the main equipment contracts have been awarded, with FMC providing the template; Aker the workover systems; and Subsea 7 and Technip in charge of marine installations.
Vigdis North-East was discovered in March 2009 in a fluvial sandstone reservoir in the Statfjord formation. Statoil estimates recoverable reserves at around 33 MMboe.
