LONDON – Appraisal well 42/13a-6 in Breagh field, UK North Sea, found natural gas according to RWE Dea UK.

The well went to MD of 8,624 ft (2,629 m) and open hole logs indicate 62 ft (19 m) of net gas sand. The well is being suspended pending future development of Breagh field.

“The primary objective of this well was to confirm the structural elevation over the less well-appraised eastern segment of the field,” says Rene Pawel, RWE Dea UK’s managing director. “The well is expected to be tied-back as a futures production well.

“Preliminary evaluation of the results from 42/13a-6 shows that we have confirmed our initial base case structural assumptions, with the bonus of having drilled the thickest gas bearing sequence to date in the Breagh field."
