Technip picks Dril-Quip for Islay controls

Technip UK has awarded Dril-Quip (Europe) a $20-million contract to supply subsea production equipment for Total’s Islay gas field development in the UK northern North Sea.

ABERDEEN, UK – Technip UK has awarded Dril-Quip (Europe) a $20-million contract to supply subsea production equipment for Total’s Islay gas field development in the UK northern North Sea. Islay is 440 km (273 mi) northeast of Aberdeen in 120 m (393 ft) of water.

Dril-Quip will provide subsea control system equipment comprising a subsea fiberoptic network communication system, two subsea control pods, and a HIPPs (high integrity pressure protection) system with its own subsea control pod. Most of the work will be managed and executed from the company’s base in Aberdeen. Offshore installation should start mid-2011.
