ABERDEEN, UK -- Dana Petroleum Netherlands has won project sanction for its subsea Medway oil and gas development in the Dutch North Sea. First production is expected late in 2011.
The Van Nes gas field is 8 km (4.9 mi) north of the De Ruyter platform, while the Van Ghent oil and gas field is 4.5 km (2.8 mi) east of the De Ruyter platform, in Dutch offshore block P11b.
The two fields will be developed through two subsea wells tied back via dedicated flow lines to the De Ruyter platform. The latter will be modified to receive the new production through installation of subsea controls, facilities and modifications to the gas export compression system.
De Ruyter’s facilities are also designed to accommodate tie-in of future exploration prospects in the area.
Dana estimates reserves from Medway at 11.8 MMboe in the base case development, with additional reserves upside. The company operates Medway with a 50% interest, the remainder held by EBN. Dana acquired these fields and numerous other Dutch sector properties earlier this year from Petro-Canada.
