STAVANGER, Norway – A new power module and two subsea templates are now in place at the Statoil-operated Åsgard A site in the Norwegian Sea. These are the first pieces installed for the Åsgardsubsea gas compression project.
Two weeks ago, the modules were transported on barges north from the assembly yard in Egersund. The crane bargeSaipem 7000 installed the largest of the two subsea templates, which will contain the compressor trains, on the seafloor last week.
“With this facility in place, we can produce another 280 MMboe from Midgard and Mikkel,” said production director Astrid Jørgenvåg.
The entire facility is expected to be ready to start producing in 2015.
