Songa Saturn to go on contract

A consortium led by Nippon Oil Exploration Ltd. has contracted the Songa Saturn to drill offshore Libya. The contract is for four firm wells plus five optional wells. The other oil companies in the consortium are CNPC International Ltd., Japex Libya Ltd., and Petrobras.

OSLO, Norway -- A consortium led by Nippon Oil Exploration Ltd. has contracted the Songa Saturn to drill offshore Libya. The contract is for four firm wells plus five optional wells. The other oil companies in the consortium are CNPC International Ltd., Japex Libya Ltd., and Petrobras.

TheSonga Saturn drillship is operating under a 6+2 well contract for Noble offshore Equatorial Guinea. The contract is expected to last until early 2008.

The vessel will have a short yard stay during which equipment will be mounted to increase the drillship's water depth capability to 3,800 ft (1,158 m). TheSonga Saturn will move to Libya to drill one well for Hess before beginning the contract with Nippon Oil.

With this contract, the Songa Saturn has secured employment to early/mid-2009.
