PPL wins jackup order

PPL Shipyard has secured a contract from Egyptian Drilling Co. to build a Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 deepwater jackup rig valued at $201 million.

SINGAPORE -- PPL Shipyard has secured a contract from Egyptian Drilling Co. to build a Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 deepwater jackup rig valued at $201 million.

The jackup will be equipped to drill high-pressure/high-temperature wells to 30,000 ft (9,144 m) and will be able to operate in 375 ft (114 m) of water. It will have accommodations for 120.

PPL expects to being construction of the jackup rig in 3Q 2007. Delivery is scheduled for Dec. 2009.
