Solstad swells construction fleet

Solstad Offshore has contracted Aker Yards for two new offshore support vessels, for delivery between 2010 and 2011.

OSLO, Norway --Solstad Offshore has contracted Aker Yards for two new offshore support vessels, for delivery between 2010 and 2011.

Under the $254 million contract, Aker Yards will provide one ROV 06 CD platform supply vessel for ROV operations, featuring diesel-electric propulsion, a 100-ton (90.72-metric ton) crane, and accommodation for 69 personnel.

It will also provide an OSCV 06 L subsea construction vessel, equipped with one 400-ton (363-metric ton) and one 50-ton (45.36-metric ton) crane, accommodation for 140, and a moonpool with the potential to accommodate two ROV systems. Both vessels are Aker Yards Project designs. The group's facility in Romania will build the hulls, with outfitting at Aker Yards in Norway.
