Tanjung leases jackup to Murphy

Malaysia's Tanjung Offshore Services Sdn. Bhd. has won a $122.4-million contract to supply a jackup drilling rig to Murphy Sarawak Oil Co. Ltd., a unit of Murphy Oil Ltd. operating offshore Borneo.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Malaysia's Tanjung Offshore Services Sdn. Bhd. has won a $122.4-million contract to supply a jackup drilling rig to Murphy Sarawak Oil Co. Ltd., a unit of Murphy Oil Ltd. operating offshore Borneo.

The contract is for three years plus a two year option, beginning this year.

Tanjung as an agency is leasingThe 208 jackup, on behalf The Offshore Drilling Co. of the United States.

The A-1 self elevating mobile drilling unitThe 208 is of Bethlehem Steel Corp. design and construction. It can operate in a maximum water depth of 61 m (200 ft) and has drilling depth capacity of 6,096 m (20,000 ft).
