RUGBY, UK -- China Offshore Oil Engineering Co (COEEC) has contracted Converteam for electrical systems for a new heavy-lift vessel.
The self-propelled 50,000 dwt semisubmersible vessel is under construction at the Youlian shipyard in Shenzhen in Guangdong province, and should be completed this year. The 219-m (718-ft) long vessel will have an open-deck area of over 7,500 sq m (80,729 sq ft).
Converteam will supply a diesel electric propulsion package comprising two main propellers and five maneuvering thrusters powered by electrical systems. The company also will supply control systems from its C-Series range, including a DP-2 dynamic positioning system and an integrated vessel control/monitoring system.
The order is valued at over $8.6 million.
