HAMILTON, Bermuda -- Teekay Corp. has signed an agreement with Petrobras to extend the operating contract for the FPSO Cidade de Rio das Ostras through 2018.

Since 2008, the vessel has operated at the Siri reservoir on the Badejo field in the Campos basin. Following upgrade work, due to be completed late this year, it will be re-deployed to the Aruana field, also in the Campos basin.

While on duty on Badejo field, the FPSO served as a test facility for heavy oil production in this region. It has a total crude storage capacity of 214,000 bbl and can produce up to 15,000 b/d of heavy crude.

"The extension of the Rio das Ostras FPSO contract is a reflection of the unit's successful operation during its two-year deployment on the Badejo field, where it has performed with a high degree of reliability in the complex production of heavy oil with a record-low API gravity,” says Bjorn Moller, Teekay Corp.'s president and CEO.
