MODEC to charter, operate Guara FPSO for Petrobras

Petrobras has signed a Letter of Intent with MODEC for the charter and operation of an FPSO at BM-S-9 offshore Brazil in the Santos basin.

TOKYO – Petrobras has signed a Letter of Intent with MODEC for the charter and operation of an FPSO at BM-S-9 offshore Brazil in the Santos basin. Petrobras, through its subsidiary PNBV signed the letter on behalf of the Consortium BM-S-9 with the Schahin Group and MODEC.

The Schahin Group and MODEC are to engineer, procure, construct, mobilize, and operate the FPSO, including topsides processing equipment as well as hull and marine systems. SOFEC will design and provide the spread mooring.

MODEC will convert the VLCC Radiant Jewel into the FPSO Cidade de Sao Paulo MV23. The FPSO will be capable of processing 120,000 b/d of oil or 150,000 b/d of total fluids.

Scheduled for delivery 4Q 2012, the FPSO will be installed in the Guara field.
