HAMILTON, Bermuda-- Scorpion Offshore’s jackup Offshore Freedom is on its way to the Arabian Gulf. The rig underwent modifications for a drilling assignment after being delivered from Lamprell’s shipyard in the UAE in late April

Another Scorpion-owned jackup, delivered by Keppel AmFELS in Brownsville, Texas earlier this year, has also started work in the Arabian Gulf after a modification program.

Recently the company secured a letter of intent (LOI) from the Thanglong Joint Operating Company to extend its contract for the Offshore Resolute. The LOI involves extending the rig’s program off Vietnam by a further six months, starting in August.

The drilling contractor now has five jackups in service with a sixth due to start operations this week, all built between 2007 and 2009. It is currently marketing for sale its newest rig, the Offshore Mischief.
