StatoilHydro secures Polar Pioneer

StatoilHydro has received consent to conduct exploration drilling of well 7226/2-1 using Transocean's semisubmersible drilling unit Polar Pioneer.

STAVANGER -- StatoilHydro has received consent to conduct exploration drilling of well 7226/2-1 using Transocean's semisubmersible drilling unit Polar Pioneer. Well 7226/2-1 is part of production license 395 and is located north of the North Cape.

ThePolar Pioneer received the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway's Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in May 2004.

The company plans to begin drilling as soon as thePolar Pioneer has completed operations on Tornerose. Estimated start-up of drilling is at the beginning of May 2008. The operation is expected to last 53 days.
