LONDON -- Drilling should start shortly on the Zaedyus prospect off French Guiana, according to partner Tullow Oil.

The Ensco 8503 will spud the well in the Guyane Maritime Block within the next two months. During 2009-10 the partners acquired and processed a large 3D seismic data-set over the block, which identified numerous Upper Cretaceous structures analogous to the Jubilee field offshore Ghana. Zaedyus has P10 upside reserves estimated at 700 MMbbl.

Off neighboring Guyana, where Tullow holds 30% equity in the Georgetown Block, the Atwood Beacon will drill the Upper Cretaceous Jaguar prospect during Q2 2011. Here a 3D survey processed in 2009 revealed various Upper Cretaceous and Tertiary-aged leads and prospects.

Last September, Tullow signed a production sharing contract with Staatsolie for Suriname’s deepwater Block 47, covering an area of 2,369 sq km (914 sq mi).

Planning is in progress for a 2,000-sq km (772-sq mi) 3D seismic program which should get under way late this year or early in 2012.
