RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has submitted declarations of commerciality concerning oil accumulations in areas adjacent to the ultra-deepwater Sapinhoá field in the presalt Santos basin.

The company and its partners acquired the Entorno de Sapinhoá area in 2017 in Brazil’s 2nd Bidding Round, under the production-sharing agreement regime.

It has suggested the following names for the new fields: Nordeste de Sapinhoá, Noroeste de Sapinhoá, and Sudoeste de Sapinhoá.

All three should be unitized with the Sapinhoá field once the corresponding production individualization agreement has been defined.

Sapinhoá, 300 km (186 mi) offshore, has current production of 250,000 b/d of oil through the FPSOsCidade de São Paulo and Cidade de Ilhabela

The Entorno de Sapinhoá consortium, the same as the Sapinhoá consortium, comprises Petrobras (45%), Shell (30%) and Repsol Sinopec (25%), with Pré-Sal Petróleo acting as manager of the production-sharing contract.
