HOUSTON -- TS Technology’s new generation compact flotation unit (CFU) is recognized by OTC as a Spotlight technology. The vertical pressure vessel is designed to handle an oil and gas mixture and water from all treatment stages and to ensure a low oil-in-water content before discharge or reinjection.

The technology is based on flotation principles whereby the internal design creates small gas bubbles that connect with small oil drops contribute to the separation, says TS Technologies. The floatation process is sustained by evolution of dissolved gas and/or additional gas injected into the water feed. Because of the low density of the droplets and bubbles when mixed, the oil and gas separate more easily in the vessel.

TS Technology’s CFU is designed with vessel internals that allow the process to be repeated with several stages in one vessel. The number of stages depends on the application. TS Technology says oil droplets of 1 micron have been removed using this system.
