WEST PERTH, Australia -- Galoc Production Co. (GPC) has shut down production from the Galoc oil field offshore The Philippines, due to the arrival of Typhoon Megi.

According to partner Otto Energy, Rubicon Offshore International, the owner and operator of the FPSO, has performed a non-routine disconnection from the mooring and riser system.

Rubicon is mobilizing a support vessel and equipment to the field to determine whether damage arose during the disconnection, and to assist with reconnection of the mooring and riser system.

Production will likely not re-start for several weeks.
