BANGKOK -- PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) has moved a step closer to developing the Bongkot South accumulation in the Gulf of Thailand.

The company and its partners Total and BG have signed a gas sales agreement, under which the Daily Contracted Quantity (DCQ) of gas from Bongkot South will be 320 MMcf/d. Bongkot, which entered production in 1993, has a DCQ of 550 MMcf/d.

PTTEP hopes this new expansion phase will help reduce Thailand’s energy import requirements. It aims to achieve first gas from Bongkot South between mid-2012 and mid-2013.
