ABERDEEN -- First oil has flowed from Maersk’s Affleck development in UK North Sea block 30/19a.
Maersk, in partnership with Talisman North Sea, has developed the field with two subsea horizontal production wells tied back to the Janice FPU via a 28-km (17-mi) production flowline.
The Janice platform underwent a series of modifications to process and export Affleck’s production fluids. The program also included installation of a new gas export spur line to the Talisman-operated Clyde platform, where further topsides changes were implemented.
From Janice, Affleck’s oil heads through an existing pipeline initially into the Norpipe trunkline system, then southeast to Teesside in northeast England. The gas is routed through existing tees on the Janice and Judy export pipeline, via the Clyde and Fulmar field facilities, to the SEGAL trunkline terminating at St Fergus in eastern Scotland.
