RIO DE JANEIRO -- Petrobras has set the world oil production record for carbonatic reservoirs relative to the waterline with well 7-MLL-54HP in the Marlim Leste field, says Petrobras. The well, named Jabuti, is located in the Campos basin at a depth of 1,413 m (4,636 ft).

Jabuti is the first commercial light oil (29º API) accumulation discovered in carbonatic reservoirs located in ultra deepwaters, the company says.

The well, which is interconnected to the FPSOCidade de Niteroi began production in February with an initial flow of 35,000 b/d. The FPSO is capable of producing upwards of 100,000 b/d, the company says.
