OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved extended use beyond its design lifetime of the PCP process facility on BP Norge’s Valhall field in the North Sea.

The facility can now remain in service until Dec. 31, 2011.

BP’s Valhall redevelopment project, currently in its final stages, was initiated due to subsidence and aging of the QP living quarters platform, the DP drilling platform and the PCP process platform.

This program has involved installation of a new integrated process and living quarters platform (PH), which was scheduled to become operational last year.

Due to delays, the planned date for removing the PCP from operations has had to be postponed until 2012.
