KØPERVIK, Norway – The frigate Helge Ingstad has collided with the tanker TS Sola off the Sture terminal near Bergen, western Norway.

Gassco has responded by closing the Vestprosess pipeline, which transports condensate from Norwegian fields from the Kollsnes gas processing plant to the Mongstad refinery via Sture.

Vestprosess runs from Kollsnes to the Mongstad refinery via Sture. As a result of shutting down the pipeline, the Kollsnes plant has also had to cease operations.

Gassco is currently in dialogue with the authorities and has mobilized emergency response resources but added that the incident will mean reduced gas deliveries to continental Europe.

It is presently working to minimize the consequences for companies exporting Norwegian gas and European recipients. Gassco optimizes gas transport by exploiting flexibility in Norway’s integrated transportation network.
