Spain's Enagas has awarded Wood Group subsidiary JP Kenny a £1.4 million detailed design contract for a proposed gas pipeline system connecting mainland Spain to the Balearic Islands of Mallorca and Ibiza. JP Kenny completed preliminary engineering work last year. JP Kenny will install the proposed pipelines, with a total length of 270-km in water depths of up to 1,000 m by 2006. The gas will be used for power generation on the islands.
JP Kenny has also started detailed design engineering for Talisman Energy's Tweedsmuir fields development, in 134 m of water in Central UK North Sea block 21/1a. These will be linked to the Buchan field facilities 12-km to the southeast.
