Offshore staff

Smedvig has entered an agreement with Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering to build a new self-erecting tender rig, the T-10. The new barge unit should be delivered by summer 2007, with an estimated capital outlay of $89 m, including the derrick set.

The T-10 will be an improved version of the same contractor's T-9 tender rig, offering enhanced drilling capability, including dual activity operations. It will be suitable for shallow and deepwater production drilling in the Southeast Asia region.

The rig's first assignment, with a contract value of $84 m, will be a three-year drilling program for Carigali Triton offshore Malaysia. Another Smedvig tender rig, theTeknik Berkat, has been contracted by the same operator for an 18-month job, starting summer 2007, valued at $36 m.
