PERTH, Australia –TGS says it plans to start a new multi-client 3D seismic survey in Tarakan basin, offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia, in the Celebes Sea. This will be TGS’ first such survey in Indonesia.

The survey, TBN10, plans to cover more than 1,600 sq km (618 sq mi) with data acquired by the M/V Seisquest. Work should begin before year end and be completed in 1Q 2011.

The TBN10 survey will cover a prospective and extensive play fairway which includes a recent gas discovery. The 3D seismic will target stratigraphic and structural resolution of the Tarakan sub-basin, leading to a better understanding of its petroleum system and a clearer definition of the leads and prospects already identified on existing 2D seismic in the area.
