LIMASSOL, Cyprus -- SeaBird Exploration has won a second contract from Chevron North Sea for survey work west of Shetland.

The contract covers the next stage of the acquisition of an ocean bottom node seismic survey in a water depth of around 1,200 m (3,937 ft). The purpose of the full-azimuth 4C-3D node survey is to acquire multi-component data for improved reservoir imaging and characterization.

It will be performed by the survey vessels Hugin Explorer and Munin Explorer. The former will cover a node survey area with around 1,200 node positions using SeaBird's proprietary autonomous CASE Abyss nodes.

Source vessel Munin Explorer will execute a full-azimuth dense shooting program of 350 sq km (135 sq mi) over a four-month period, beginning in May.

Chevron awarded the contract on behalf of itself and its partners in the Rosebank discovery, Statoil, OMV, and DONG E&P.
