Caspian Geophysical requested an ocean bottom, cable seismic survey acoustic positioning system manufactured by Sonardyne International. Aquadyne will supply and install a topsides positioning, data processing unit with seabed transponders and a compact motion sensor, the CMS 25, from TSS Ltd. The CMS 25 will provide corrections that compensate for vessel movement and can be used for helideck-motion monitoring.
The transponders are versions of Sonardyne's Type 797X series. They will be used to provide accurate positioning for the vessel's streamer cable. The transducers will be specially designed, small-diameter floats that enable the transducers to pass through cable handling systems aboard the vessel. Delivery of the Sonardyne system will be completed in late April.
