Shell gets go-ahead for deepwater well offshore mid-Norway

Norske Shell has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority to drill the deepwater Coeus prospect in the Norwegian Sea.

OSLO, NorwayNorske Shell has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) to drill the deepwater Coeus prospect in the Norwegian Sea.

Saipem’s semisubmersibleScarabeo 8 will drill well 6304/3-1 in 1,235 m (4,052 ft) of water in production license 832, 165 km (103 mi) northwest of Kristiansund.

Drilling will start between July and September and should take 55 days to complete.

In the North Sea, the PSA has authorized Neptune Energy to use the well intervention vesselsIsland Frontier and Island Wellserver at the Gjøa field for well maintenance.

Operations are set to get under way from July 1 and continue to the end of the year.
