OSLO, Norway –AGR Group has spudded its first exploration well for Petra in Norwegian North Sea block 15/12, using the jack-up Maersk Giant.

AGR Petroleum Services is managing the drilling and logistics, having contracted most of the third-party services such as directional drilling, mud logging, and cementing.

Drilling of the well, in a water depth of around 90 m (295 ft), should take two to three months. AGR also has worked with Pertra on redevelopment of the nearby Varg field.

Elsewhere in Norway, it is currently managing drilling operations on behalf of seven oil companies on a three-year program of wells with the semisubmersibleBredford Dolphin.
