LONDON -- EnCore Oil has spud the Catcher exploration well 28/9-a in UK central North Sea block 28/9.

The heavy duty jackup Transocean Galaxy IIis drilling the well, under the management of drilling services provider Applied Drilling Technology International (ADTI). The well should take 15 – 20 days to reach total depth, depending on weather and operational circumstances.

EnCore’s main objective is to establish if hydrocarbons are present in a Paleocene age reservoir at an estimated depth of 4,400 ft (1,341 m).

Other partners in the license are Premier Oil, Wintershall, Nautical Petroleum, and Agora Oil & Gas.
