Statoil cleared to drill in Glitne area

Statoil has authorization from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to drill an exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea, using the semisubmersible Transocean Leader.

OSLO– Statoil has authorization from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway to drill an exploration well in the Norwegian North Sea, using the semisubmersible Transocean Leader.

Well 15/6-12 will be drilled in production license 303 in the southern part of the sector, in a water depth of 115 m (377 ft). The location is 230 km (143 mi) west of Egersund and 12 km (7.4 mi) south of the Statoil-operated Glitne field.

Drilling should start at the end of November, with the program expected to last 81 days.
