LONDON --Aminex has agreed an appraisal location with the Tanzanian authorities for its Nyuni offshore license.
The company has also signed a contract with BGP of China to acquire new seismic data on and around Songo-Songo Island. This survey, which should be completed within three months, should lead to improved definition of the 2008 discovery Kiliwani North, which tested gas at 40 MMcf/d.
Aminex is discussing terms to commercialize the gas and plans further exploration of other prospects in the license area.
Due to the costs and complexities involved with early test production, Kiliwani North will likely proceed directly to full commercial development.
Near-shore Kenya, Aminex is looking to acquire further seismic this year on licenses L-17 and L-18.
