Transocean Legend spuds Kontiki-1 exploration well

The semisub Transocean Legend has spudded the Kontiki-1 exploration well, according to Karoon Gas Australia.

VICTORIA, Australia -- The semisub Transocean Legend has spudded the Kontiki-1 exploration well, according to Karoon Gas Australia. The rig is preparing to run and set 30-in. (76-cm) conductor casing in a 36-in. (91-cm) hole that was drilled to 637 mRT.

Kontiki-1 is the second well in a multi-well drilling program in Browse basin permits WA-314-P, WA-315-P, and WA-398-P. The well, which has a planned total depth of 4610 mRT, is targeting potential hydrocarbons in Middle and Upper Jurassic sandstones.
