ABERDEEN, UK --Venture Production plans to test numerous low-risk step-out appraisal and exploration prospects over the next 18 months in the UK southern gas basin. This follows an extensive seismic reinterpretation of the entire A-fields area, much of which was previously developed by Phillips Petroleum.

In the coming months Venture plans to spud an exploratory well on the Andrea prospect in block 48/15b and an appraisal well on the Annabel East field extension, followed by an exploration well in the Greater Adele area next year. If successful, these wells could add several hundred billion cubic feet of reserves easily accessible from Venture's existing production infrastructure.

Recently the company reported a new gas find on the Carna structure in block 42/21b. Over the next 18 months it plans to be more active in this region, drilling up to three wells on the Alcyone, Andromeda and Morpheus prospects.
