STOCKHOLM, SwedenLundin Norway has found oil shows in the Torvastad prospect in the central Norwegian North Sea.

TheIsland Innovator drilled side track well 16/2-20A 770 m (2,526 ft) west of the main Torvastad exploration well in license PL501, which also contains the Johan Sverdrup field.

Lundin’s goal was to investigate the potential of an up-flank continuous Jurassic reservoir. The reservoir section has been cored with oil shows, but analysis indicates poor reservoir quality.

Wireline logging continues with early results confirming the core observations. On completion, the rig will transfer a short distance to PL338 to drill Lundin’s Edvard Grieg South East appraisal well 16/1-18.
