MELBOURNE, Australia -- The Wardie-1 exploration well offshore Victoria in Bass Strait is at of 722 m (2,369 ft) MD with 13 3/8 in. (34 cm) casing run and cemented, 3D Oil Ltd. said today.

Pressure testing the BOP stack is under way, prior to drilling out the cement. Over the course of the next few days the anticipated operations will be to directionally drill a 12¼-in. (31-cm) hole to a TD 1,790 m (1,600 m subsea). The primary target, Latrobe Group reservoirs, is anticipated to be intersected early next week.

Studies have shown that the field could be of a similar size to the West Seahorse oilfield and the fields may be connected.

3D Oil Ltd is the operator and 100% owner of the Vic/P57 permit.
