LONDON -- Salamander Energy has contracted the jackup Aquamarine Driller to drill the Cat Ba prospect off North Vietnam, probably starting in July.

Offshore Indonesia, Salamander has continued studies of its Angklung-1 discovery well and 3D seismic data to improve interpretation and mapping of play systems in the Northern Kutei area.

This work will be used for determining the location of wells in the Bontang PSC planned for 4Q 2011, to appraise the gas play and explore the oil play.

In the adjacent SE Sangatta PSC, Salamander completed 2D and 3D seismic surveys early this year. Early results suggest numerous prospects on trend with Angklung. The company plans to drill a well on this license toward the end of 2011.

Recently, Salamander awarded a contract for the Bravo wellhead platform due to be delivered and installed in mid-2012 for its ongoing Bualang field development in the Gulf of Thailand.

This will be a 16-slot facility. Further development drilling from the Bravo platform during the second half of 2012 should lift production from Bualang to 15,000 b/d in 2013.
