LONDON – The Te Giac Trang field partners offshore southern Vietnam have found more reserves in a previously undrilled fault block.
According to SOCO International, theTGT-10X exploration well in the H5 fault block intersected 117 m (384 ft) of net pay. It was drilled into the Oligocene D2 section. However, higher than predicted formation pressure means mud weights need to be greater, so a liner will now be run over the Miocene and Oligocene reservoir horizons.
The partners are considering drilling the remainder of the well using a 6-in. bit to reach the targeted TD of 4,430 m (14,534 ft) MD, after completing current downhole logging operations. These will establish the reservoir parameters to assist design of the Miocene/Oligocene flow test program.
The well is being drilled 6 km (3.7 mi) south of the H4 wellhead platform in the southern part of the TGT field in Cuu Long basin block 16-1.
