HOUSTON – Baker Hughes has commercialized its MPRESS drilling fluid system that is designed to reduce viscosity inside the drillstring while optimizing viscosity in the annulus.

The new drilling fluid allows reduced stand pipe pressure for more horsepower to the bottomhole assembly, says Baker Hughes. The pressure profile also is efficient in drilling lateral sections as it minimizes cutting settling into the curve during connections and trips.
