LONDON – Statoil’s second operated well offshore Mozambique was a dry hole, according to partner Tullow Oil.

The drillshipDiscoverer Americas drilled the Buzio-1 exploration well in Area 2 in a water depth of 1,534 m (5,033 ft). Following the completion of logging operations, the well was P&A’d.

The targets were stratigraphic traps in Tertiary/Upper Cretaceous channels. Good-quality water bearing reservoir sandstones were found in both targets.
