Talisman Energy names president and CEO

Talisman Energy Inc. has appointed John Manzoni as president and CEO, succeeding Dr. Jim Buckee who is retiring. The appointment will take effect on Sept. 1, 2007.

CALGARY, Canada --Talisman Energy Inc. has appointed John Manzoni as president and CEO, succeeding Dr. Jim Buckee who is retiring. The appointment will take effect on Sept. 1, 2007.

Since 2002, Manzoni has served as chief executive, refining and marketing (BP Group).

He has a BS degree in civil engineering and a MS degree in petroleum engineering from Imperial College in London. He also has a MS degree in management from Stanford University.

"His mandate will be to build upon the strength of our underlying assets, maximize the pursuit of our business strategies and generate additional growth and value," said Doug Baldwin, chairman of Talisman's board of directors.

Baldwin cited Buckee's contributions to Talisman by saying, "During his 16 years as president and subsequently as CEO, Jim led the transformation of Talisman from a BP subsidiary into a leading independent and international energy company."
