Royal Dutch Petroleum Co. and the Shell Transport and Trading Co. have announced management changes.Sir Philip Watts has stepped down as chairman of the board of the Shell Transport and Trading Co. and as managing director. Jeroen van der Veer, the president of Royal Dutch Petroleum, will succeed him as chairman of the committee of managing directors. Lord Oxburghis the new interim non-executive chairman of The Shell Transport and Trading Co. Malcolm Brindedis director and managing director of the company and will serve as vice chairman of the committee of managing directors. Brinded will step down from the board of management of Royal Dutch Petroleum Co. and offer himself for election by shareholders of the Shell Transport and Trading Co. at the forthcoming annual general meeting. Walter van de Vijverhas stepped down from the board of management of Royal Dutch Petroleum Co. and as a group managing director. Van de Vijver's duties as chief executive of Shell's Exploration and Production business will be assumed by Brinded, in addition to his current responsibilities for the Gas and Power business. Rob Routs, currently a member of the board of management of Royal Dutch Petroleum Co., will assume Van der Veer's responsibility for the chemicals business in addition to his current responsibilities for the Oil Products business. Judith Boynton will continue as a managing director of the Shell Transport and Trading Co. and as CFO.

Expro International Grouphas won a contract to provide the process topsides for the Bourbon Opale FPSO, which is being built in Norway. The FPSO, owned by Bourbon Offshore Norway AS,a subsidiary of the French company Groupe Bourbon, will process a wide range of crude oil, from 14° to 40° API crude and associated gas. The topsides package includes a solids exclusion system, crude stabilization train, programmable logic controller-based control and shutdown system, and a fiscal metering package.
Invensyshas received its third order to replace a control system for Total's offshore production and exploration operation. As part of an ongoing modernization program for its offshore production facilities in the North Sea, Total awarded Invensys the contract to install a Foxboro I/A Series control system – plus the latest Triconex safety systems – on its L7CC production platform.
Energy Ventures,a venture capital business partner for emerging companies targeting the energy sector, has invested NKr12 million in Caltec Ltd., supplier of production improvement and separation equipment for the oil and gas industry. The UK based company 121 SC Ltd. will be co-investing with Energy Ventures in the deal.
Schlumberger Oilfield Serviceshas received top recognition by BG Groupfor a well placement solution in Minerva-Hub development wells in the southern sector of the North Sea. For the Minerva-Hub development wells, BG Group, Schlumberger, and GlobalSantaFe designed and executed a multilateral openhole sidetrack solution to increase well exposure to reservoir sweet-spots and maximize well productivity. The 47/3c-M1 on Minerva was completed with three laterals through three fault blocks – almost doubling production and reducing total expenditures.

Gulfofguinea Petroleum Corp. Inc. (GGPC) has signed a production-sharing contract with the government of Gabon. The PSC pertains to the East Orovinyare production license that was discovered by Marathon Oil in 1997. The field has recoverable reserves of up to 20 MMbbl and lies in 19 m of water offshore south central Gabon.
Syntroleum Corp. and Sovereign Oil & Gas Co. have signed a joint development agreement whereby Sovereign will work exclusively with Syntroleum to acquire and develop stranded natural gas fields worldwide using Syntroleum's proprietary gas-to-liquids (GTL) synthetic fuels technology. The joint development agreement will identify and license proven gas fields in remote locations for use as feedstock to supply Syntroleum's previously announced GTL Barge. The GTL Barge will produce environmentally friendly synthetic fuels from natural gas at a competitive price to replace high-sulfur diesel and other conventional fuel.
